US is not trying to start a war with Iran, but Israel.
Israel is adamant by not abiding to the two state policy, hence leaving Palestinians in the lurch as Israelis were left long time ago in history. Israelis are making others to suffer the same like they did, though Palestinians were not the perpetrators who made Israelis suffer. The win-win solution is to implement two state policy, but Israel wants to eat the whole cake.
Iran vehemently opposes this stance of Israel. Other Arab countries were also opposing. First it came as Sunni vs Shia divide between the Middle Easter nations so that they cannot unite to oppose Israel. After several misadventures of such policy (which has ended up with creating and training “Islamic” Terrorist organizations by Israel), this approach is fast fading off.
Trump was an uninvited guest into the whole epitome of mockery of Israel on this matter. Trump smashed the Mid-Eastern plans, by not ‘doing’ anything in 4 years. But Israel found ways to get “friendly” gestures from Arab nations by ways of mutual recognition. Israel was expecting US to intervene in Iran militarily hence it did many provocative acts. Some sensible souls in Pentagon managed to avert such quagmires, saving US forces.
Biden is in favour of two state policy, and the new actors in the middle eastern theatre, Russia and China, are on the same page as Biden on Israel-Palestinian states. Resuscitation of JCPOA to facilitate lifting of economic sanctions on Iran is progressing well. Thus leaving Israel in a quandary. Meanwhile, Saudi-Iran talks were held in Baghdad to reduce tension among themselves. Suleimani was killed before while he was going to attend that mediation meeting between Saudi and Iran. Israel has managed to convince Trump to execute Suelimani, leaving an indelible and visible black mark on US foreign policy.
Israel is still desperate to launch a war on Iran, hoping US will not let Israel down once war is started, however Iran is very calculative and clearly understood the intention of each provocation by Israel. A ballistic missile fell in Dimona, far side of Israel, near a nuclear facility. An “unintentional” ballistic missile fired by “incompetent” Syrian forces, managed to bypass Iron Dome and end up very close to a Nuclear site in Israel. Suddenly the Iran’s vow to payback eye-for-eye comes to mind after a bomb went off inside Natanz Nuclear facility. Only Israel knows better.
So, US is not trying to wage a war in Iran, if it happened before it would have been disastrous for both Iran and US. Now with Chinese investments in Iran, China will have to protect its Iranian economical interests from any attack.
